What Happens During My Closing?

To finalize your transaction, you will need to complete a closing. Please review the closing details emailed to you to ensure that the time, date and location are correct, and then read on below for the information you need to make your closing a success.

Preparing for Your Closing

There are a few preparations for you to make ahead of your closing appointment:

  1. If you will be bringing funds to, or receiving funds from your closing, you will need to coordinate with your lender to select a funding option.
  2. Be prepared with your driver’s license or other valid, state-issued photo ID and any payment you are required to bring to closing.
  3. If you are in a state or county that requires witnesses at your closing (Connecticut, Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina or Liberty County, Florida) be sure to make any necessary arrangements.
  4. If you need to use a power of attorney, you must contact Rocket Close for prior approval.

Completing Your Closing

At the scheduled time and location of your closing appointment, you will be signing a series of documents known as a closing package. The closing process will be facilitated in person by a signing agent or attorney, depending on which state you are in.

At the start of your closing, you will be asked to verify your identity. You will then be presented with each document to review before signing. Your signing agent or attorney will notarize the necessary documents by applying their notary seal.

If you have questions during your closing, your signing agent or attorney (if applicable) can help clarify what’s required of you at each step. Once completed, your closing documents will be overnighted to Rocket Close for review and recording.

If you will be receiving funds from your transaction, they will be sent after the closing package is successfully reviewed.
